Your Home Care Service Questions, Answered
What You Need to Know Before Getting Started
  • How does home healthcare actually work, and what happens during a typical visit?

When you schedule care with Maddox Home Health Care Services, a visit begins with an optional Christian prayer, which is always patient-led and never required. From there, your caregiver, overseen by a BSN-level Registered Nurse, addresses the specific needs on your care plan. That could mean a wound dressing change, IV medication assistance, help with bathing and mobility, meal preparation, or light housekeeping. Every visit is guided by clinical observation, so even routine tasks are performed with a trained eye watching for any changes in your condition.
  • What areas does Maddox Home Health Care Services cover?

We serve families across a regional corridor in Alabama and Georgia. Primary service areas include Dothan, AL and Blakely, GA. We also serve Ashford, AL; Enterprise, AL; Geneva, AL; Ozark, AL; Bainbridge, GA; Donalsonville, GA; and Fort Gaines, GA. Please note that our service area is strictly limited to Alabama and Georgia. We do not currently operate in Florida.
  • Does home health insurance coverage apply, and what does Maddox accept?

Yes, Maddox Home Health Care Services works with a credentialing agency to facilitate payments through major insurance carriers. Accepted coverage options include Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, and Medicare. Because insurance situations vary from person to person, we encourage you to reach out directly so we can review your specific coverage and walk you through your options. For those paying out of pocket, care starts at approximately $50 per visit, making it a more affordable choice compared to assisted living or institutional care.
  • What sets Maddox apart from a standard home health agency?

A few things set us apart. Every care plan is personally overseen by Sheena Pittman, BSN, RN, who brings 16 years of nursing experience, including time in acute care at Southeast Health. Many traditional agencies visit only three days a week; we are available to fill those off-days, ensuring you are never left without clinical support during recovery. Our ministry-based model means we treat the whole person, not just the medical condition. We hold ACLS and BLS certifications and are HIPAA certified, so you get both the warmth of a faith-driven approach and the rigor of professional clinical care.
  • Is the prayer offered at visits mandatory for all patients?

Not at all. The Christian prayer offered at the start of each visit is completely optional and always patient-led. It is an invitation, not a requirement. Our founder believes care is a calling, and prayer is one way she expresses that calling, but we respect every patient's personal beliefs and preferences. Our goal is simply for every person we serve to feel genuinely loved and cared for, regardless of their background or faith tradition.
  • What kinds of clinical services can a Maddox caregiver provide at home?

Our clinical services are broad because our care is led by a credentialed BSN-level RN. We provide wound care management for post-surgery patients, including those recovering from back surgeries and amputations, as well as Wound Vac management. We assist with IV medications, coordinate with pharmacies on discharge medications, and support passive and active range of motion exercises. We also assist with mobility, including walker use and bed or toilet transfers. This level of clinical oversight is something a non-medical sitter simply cannot offer.
  • Can Maddox help family caregivers who are feeling burned out or overwhelmed?

Yes, and this is something we take seriously. Caregiver burnout is real, and family members who have been providing around-the-clock support often need a break to rest and recharge. Maddox offers respite care designed to give families that relief while ensuring their loved one continues to receive safe, compassionate, RN-supervised care. Whether you need a few hours or consistent weekly coverage, we can work with your schedule to build a plan that supports the whole family, not just the patient.
  • How can I feel confident my loved one will be safe with a home caregiver?

We understand that inviting someone into your home requires a deep level of trust, and we do not take that lightly. Sheena Pittman built Maddox Home Health Care Services on a foundation of transparency, professional integrity, and genuine compassion. Her 16-year nursing career, including acute care experience and active ACLS and BLS certifications, means your loved one is in clinically qualified hands. Our ministry-based model means we approach every patient with the respect and dignity that puts families at ease. We are happy to answer any questions before your first visit.
